At our conference last week, we were proud to announce the launch of our registered training organisation: AbSec Learning and Development Centre, also known as AbSec LDC.
We have launched this new educational institution with one clear goal: to offer culturally tailored training, equipping more people to provide support for our Aboriginal people and communities.
“While there are many places to gain child and family services qualifications in NSW, AbSec Learning and Development Centre is one owned and managed by Aboriginal people,” said Tim Ireland, CEO of AbSec.
“All our courses will focus on serving the Aboriginal communities of NSW, and cultural competence will be embedded in all aspects of learning.
“This will be a place where Aboriginal students feel safe and supported to achieve their best.”
Alongside community services courses, AbSec LDC will offer training in governance, leadership and management. These qualifications will be ideal for aspiring leaders of Aboriginal community organisations.
We’re also excited to announce our partnership with Southern Cross University, which will offer our students the opportunity to transition from a diploma to a degree course.
We are currently accepting pre-enrolment expressions of interest for all courses – please fill out our online form.
All courses will commence in early 2018. If you’d like to be notified when enrolments open, please join our AbSec LDC mailing list.
